Mike Flynn Aced the 13th Hole on 12 Sept 2012

Hole-In-One!

September 12, 2012 - Mike Flynn aced the 13th hole using a 5-wood from 182 yards out! This is the league's third hole-in-one since moving to Butternut Farm GC!

September 12, 2012 - We held our $5 individual skills fun event. Dean Charest (#11), Bill Dalton (#11 and #16), Tom Damon (#16) and Mike Flynn (#13) took closest-to-the-pin honors while Dean Charest, Tom Damon and Peter Dee earned long drive honors on #18 in our intra-foursome competitions.

June 27, 2012 - Mike Zurawski and Rusty Lorenzen gained first place honors in our mid-season two-man scramble with a back side two-under-par 32.

Another Bloody Sock!

May 30, 2012 - Although not quite as dramatic as the famous Curt Schilling "Bloody Sock" performance a few years back, there truly was visible blood and a sock involved! Our subject present-day golf warrior Tony Carpenito, down 10-2 in his already-lost 9-hole match, overcame the pain and blood loss to win the final three individual holes in quasi-schizophrenic fashion. The "moral victory" comeback replaced a potentially long-remembered embarrassment with a more-easily-forgotten 10-8 defeat. After the match, Tony reportedly declared "I hate new golf shoes!"

April 25, 2012 - A friendly opening day scorecard message was left behind on the closest-to-the-pin 2nd hole. The artist's rendering of the intended reader's "second hole" left little to the imagination.

Sub-40 Rounds!

Ethan Aronie and Henry Doherty both posted back side 39's on May 16, 2012, for our first sub-40 rounds of the season! On May 23, Henry Doherty scored his second consecutive 39 on the front side! Tom Damon and Mike Flynn completed back side 39's on May 30! Rusty Lorenzen carded a back side 39 on August 29!

Sub-Net-30 Rounds!

Tony Carpenito shot a "net 27" on May 9, 2012, for the first "sub-net-30" of the season! Mike Flynn followed with a "net 29" on May 30! Sam Aronie continued with a "net 26" on July 18 and Dean Charest finished with a "net 28" on August 22!

September 5, 2012 - Rusty Lorenzen and Mike Zurawski won our 2012 League Championship with an 18-hole 40-32 victory over Ethan Aronie and Mike Flynn.

September 5, 2012 - Brian Keith (-5) and Sam Aronie (-3) won our Two-Man Blind Draw Net Medal event with a combined net score of 8-under-par. Dean Charest completed a fine 5-under-par individual effort as Tom Damon and Peter Dee each finished at 4-under-par.

July 11, 2012 - Buying overpriced Coke in Pro Shop ... $2. Breaking driver on the 1st Tee ... $200. Using alternate club and landing "in jail" on the 3rd hole ... on the way to the worst round of the year ... Priceless!

April 25, 2012 - Ethan Aronie and Mike Flynn, Henry Doherty and Tony Carpenito, and Peter Dee (solo) finished in a three-way tie for first place in our season-opening two-man scramble with front side even-par 36's.

Kim Jong-il : Golfing Legend

1942-2011

According to the North Korean Ministry of Information, Kim shot 38 under par, including 11 holes in one, in his first golf outing. As he aged, he was said to have only shot three or four aces per round. There will be plenty of "warm" weather where he's golfing now!
